Importing a Table

Updated yesterday

Importing a table allows you to enrich lists originating outside the Maven Bio platform.

Clicking the Smart Tables button gives you the option to select Import Table. This feature allows you to upload the spreadsheet you wish to work with. Supported file formats are Excel (.xlsx) and CSV.

Here's a quick video.

Pro tip: Make sure the first column of your spreadsheet contains the core entity you want to research (e.g., drug, indication, company, mechanism etc.)

Once uploaded, a configuration window appears where you can define the types of items in the rows of your spreadsheet.

Available options include: Drug, Trial, Company, Document, Mechanism, Indication, and Target.

You can then choose the column from your uploaded sheet to serve as the Primary Column—the key reference for each row. The primary column helps map the items in your list to Maven Bio's ontologies (where possible).

Note: Smart Tables are designed to research and expand on a single core entity. They don’t validate or interpret other uploaded columns—any additional insights should be added through AI Columns linked to the main entity.

All available column headers will be displayed in a convenient dropdown, along with clickable column tags to expedite selection.

Click Import Table to complete the process. Your Smart Table will be created in moments—ready for enrichment.

Once the table is imported, the Row Mapping button takes you to a screen where you can see how many of the items from your list were automatically matched to items in the Maven database. From this screen, you can also assign or reassign matches as needed.
