The Market Screen workflow in Smart Table helps you generate focused, data-driven outputs tailored to your research needs. You can launch a custom query, refine it for clarity, and let the AI define structured objectives and search criteria.
With flexible filters and editable columns, you can shape the Smart Table to match your specific analytical goals. This workflow is especially useful for competitive landscaping, pipeline screening, and strategic evidence generation.
In Smart Table view, you should be able to launch a workflow using the Launch a Workflow button located in the top left corner.

Click on Market Screen to open a new window where you can type your request.
Depending on the parameters you want the screening to be based on, you can create and submit a custom query to generate targeted results.

Using the Enhance feature located at the bottom right of the text box, you should be able to refine your query before submitting it. This helps improve clarity, structure, and relevance to ensure your request yields the most accurate results.

Step 1: Submit the Initial Query
Once you are satisfied with your query, click the Next Steps button.

Step 2: Review Parsed Query
This will take you to next step of the Market Screen workflow. Here, your query is parsed—meaning it’s organized into a structured format with a detailed description of the analytical question you've asked, for you to review. If the description doesn’t accurately reflect your intent, you can click the Retry button in the top right corner to re-initiate the parsing process.

Step 3: Establish Search Criteria
You’ve done your part for now—now relax as the AI takes over. It defines the initial search parameters based on your objective, determining what to look for and where. This lays the foundation for accurate and targeted data extraction.

Step 4: Apply Custom Filters
Based on the inputs from Steps 1-3, the AI presents a set of filter options to choose from. You can refine the output by selecting specific filters (for eg: subtype targeting, innovative modality, or licensing). These filters help tailor the final structure of your Smart Table to match your analytical needs.
At this stage, you can also edit columns as needed—just like using the AI Columns feature. You have full control to add, remove, or customize columns based on the filters presented, ensuring the final output aligns with your specific needs.

Once you’re satisfied with the selected columns and filters, click Start Autopilot. This will trigger the AI to begin generating your Smart Table based on the defined criteria and structure.

You’ve now successfully initiated the Market Screen. You can close the window if you wish—Maven Bio will notify you once the screening is complete and your Smart Table is ready to view.
Understanding the Output
The section below walks you through the output with key features, visuals, and brief explanations to help you navigate and interpret your report.
On the right side of your screen, you’ll see a visual summary of the steps taken to filter results based on your request.

You can download this chart as an image or an Excel file. The Excel file will appear as shown below.

On the left side of the screen is a toolbar with four tabs: Event Feed, Methodology, Selected Results, and Excluded Results. Let’s go through each to understand their purpose and how they help you review the Market Screen.
Methodology: This section reiterates your original request and outlines, in detail, the approach taken to fulfill it. It provides clarity on how the information was gathered, filtered, and structured to match your objectives.

Selected Results: This table displays the final set of items that matched your search criteria and were included after detailed review. You also have options to export the table, launch a new workflow, export the table, adjust filters and columns as needed. This section provides a clear, structured view of the most relevant findings from your request.

Excluded Results: This table shows all items that initially matched the search criteria but were excluded after a more detailed review. It offers transparency in the filtering process and allows for secondary analysis. Just like Selected Results, you can launch a new workflow or just sort, filter, or export this data for further review.

Event Feed: This auto-generated feed highlights key development related to the entities in your table. From here, you can add specific items to a watchlist without navigating away. This feature is designed to help you set up alerts and monitor important updates quickly and seamlessly from within your market screen.

By using the toolbar options on the top right, you can invoke the Maven Assistant to ask questions about the report, download/export the report, and create shareable links to collaborate with other Maven Bio users. These options are consistent with basic Smart Table features.
When a shared link is opened, a copy of the report or table is automatically added to the recipient’s account, allowing them to explore and work with the data independently.
The Market Screen Output offers a complete, end-to-end view of your research—from request to result—making it easy to understand, validate, and act on the information. With built-in traceability, smart filtering, and real-time monitoring, it’s designed to streamline your workflow and support confident decision-making.
