Planning and Executing Tasks with the Agent

Updated over a month ago

MavenBio now provides an upgraded Agent experience within the Assistant. This Agent is designed to help you create, refine, and execute complex analytical workflows using Smart Tables, Report Builder, and Blueprints.

Whether you are unsure how to structure an analysis or want a faster way to generate treatment landscapes, trial summaries, or competitive insights, the Agent converts high-level requests into actionable plans that run directly within the platform.

1. Submitting a Query

In Agent mode:

  • Type your prompt

  • tag relevant items if needed

  • Press Enter or Hit the arrow at the bottom right of the chat box

The Planning Agent begins parsing your request.

Planning Phase

2. How the Planning Works

The Agent:

  • Interprets your query

  • Identifies tagged entities (e.g., indications, drugs)

  • Creates a structured list of Research Steps

  • Generates a Suggested Plan

For example, if your query relates to a indication:

  • The Agent identifies “CKD” indication

  • Understand and breaks down the query

  • Identifies the most intelligent path to respond

  • Suggests the next steps and explains the process used to determine them.

This plan is fully visible and editable before execution.

3. Editing the Plan

You may:

  • Add new steps using Add Step

  • Edit or remove existing steps

  • Modify the blueprint that will be used in the Smart Table or report

You have full flexibility to customize the workflow.

4. Accepting or Requesting Changes

Once the Planning Agent presents the plan, you will initially see two options at the bottom of the screen:

  • Provide Feedback

  • Accept and Execute Plan

If you choose to edit any of the steps in the plan, these options update to reflect your changes. You will now see:

  • Validate and Execute Plan: will validate your edits and then execute the updated plan.

  • Revert: discards any changes you made and restores the original plan shown by the Agent.

  • Provide Feedback

Both Accept and Execute Plan and Validate and Execute Plan appear as green action buttons, indicating that they will move the workflow into the execution phase.

Execution Phase

5. Running the Execution Agent

When you click Execute Plan, the Execution Agent runs the steps defined earlier.

Stopping Execution: You may click Stop Execution at any time.

Working in Parallel: While the plan is running:

  • You can leave the Assistant tab

  • Completed items will appear in the associated workspace folder once finished

Understanding the Agent’s Response

MavenBio’s Agent provides a fully transparent response structure, showing users not only the final answer but also the research steps that led to it. This ensures clarity, reproducibility, and trust in the workflow.

When the Agent completes a query, the response you see will typically include the following components:

1. Research Steps

The Agent lists all research steps it took to interpret your query and generate the final output.
These steps show how the system parsed your request, what filters were applied, and what information was retrieved.

2. Summary of Findings

You will see a summary section that consolidates the key insights or conclusions from the Agent’s analysis.

3. Stratified Answer Sections

The Agent often breaks down the response into multiple clearly labeled sections.
Each section corresponds to a different part of your query, providing a structured and easy-to-follow explanation.

4. Included Tables and Reports

If the plan included creating Smart Tables, Reports, or other analytical assets, these will appear directly in the response, embedded below the summary and narrative explanations.

5. Supporting Visuals

The response may also include images, supporting tables, and additional visual elements

This structured response helps you understand exactly what the Agent did, why, and what conclusions were generated, giving you full visibility into the analytical process.
