Getting Started with the Assistant Agent Mode

Updated over a month ago

MavenBio now provides an upgraded Agent experience within the Assistant. This Agent is designed to help you create, refine, and execute complex analytical workflows using Smart Tables, Report Builder, and Blueprints. Whether you are unsure how to structure an analysis or want a faster way to generate treatment landscapes, trial summaries, or competitive insights, the Agent converts high-level requests into actionable plans that run directly within the platform.

The Assistant environment supports inline tagging, blueprint management, and seamless switching between Chat and Agent modes.

Accessing the Agent

On the MavenBio start page, the central Assistant bar and the Assistant sidebar—both on the start page and throughout features like Smart Tables and Report Builder— offer two modes:

  • Chat

  • Agent

Click Agent to access the planning-and-execution experience.

Click chat for basic informational queries.

You will also see an additional Blueprints option when in assistant agent mode, where you can directly access your saved Agent Blueprint to re-create the analyses you need.

Where to find Agent Mode Conversation History:

Under the Assistant chat box, you will find:

  • Recent Works and A See All button, which opens your complete Assistant history across Chat and Agent modes.

In the Your Work section, you will see a list or card view of every item you’ve created, Folders, Smart Tables, Reports and a Assistant Agent Mode outputs.

Each Agent conversation creates a workspace card or folder, depending on the number and type of items generated in that session. All associated Agent chat, Smart Tables, and Reports are stored inside this folder for easy retrieval and organization.

You can access the assistant conversations from the start page your work section, the see all button under central assistant chat bar or by clicking Past chats  in the top-right corner of Assistant.

When you click on See All or past chats options on assistant chat histories, you will be taken to a unified view that includes all Assistant conversations: both Chat and Agent, allowing you to revisit any past analysis or discussion in one place.

Switching to Agent Mode with Chat Mode Suggestions

Assistant Chat intelligently detects when your query would benefit from a structured analytic workflow and suggests transitioning into the Agent.

When using Chat mode:

  • Type your question as usual

  • Assistant will respond

  • If appropriate, it may suggest a workflow created by the Agent

You can choose to continue in Chat or switch into Agent mode to complete the task more efficiently.

Agent Blueprints

Agent introduces its own category of Agent Blueprints, reusable planning frameworks derived from Agent workflows. These allow you to repeat complex multi-step analyses without reconfiguring them manually.

How to Use Agent Blueprints

Inside Agent:

  • Click on Blueprint button in agent mode. This surfaces the Blueprint that the Agent previously created and that you’ve saved.

  • Select the one you want to reuse.

Important Distinction

Agent Blueprints library:

  • Does not store Smart Table or Report Builder blueprints

  • Are distinct from table/report blueprints in your workspace

  • Store the steps and planning logic from an earlier Agent task

  • use @blueprint to surface report and smart table blueprints.

Use them when you want to reproduce an analysis on a new indication, drug class, company set, or trial landscape.
