Managing and Sharing Permissions for Blueprints

Updated over 3 weeks ago

Maven Bio lets you share report and table blueprints that you’ve created or customized—making it easier for teams to collaborate and maintain consistency across projects.

Whether it’s a table layout you’ve refined or a report design your team uses often, you can securely share these blueprints within your organization.

Where to Find Blueprint Sharing

Blueprint sharing is available for both Smart Tables and Reports, letting you distribute/share templates across your organization.

  • Find the Sharing Option for a Table Blueprint

Open any Smart Table and click on the AI Column button at the top of your table.

On the left-hand side, open your Blueprint Library using the Book icon and select the blueprint you’d like to share.

Once selected, you’ll see the sharing symbol next to the delete icon, for that blueprint.

  • Find the Sharing Option for a Report Blueprint

Click on Report Builder.

On the left-hand side, open your Blueprint Library using the Book icon.

Select the blueprint you’d like to share. Once selected, you’ll see the sharing symbol next to the delete icon, for that blueprint.

Share a table/report blueprint

In the Blueprint Library, choose the blueprint you want to share. At the bottom-left, click Share (next to Delete).

A pop-up window will open where you can manage sharing options.

In Search people or teams drop-down, find the person or team to share with.

This list includes all Maven Bio users and teams in your organization. You can share the blueprint with specific team members or specific teams.

Next to Search people or teams drop-down, use the Role dropdown to set permissions:
View only — Users can use the blueprint but cannot edit the original version. Any changes made by a viewer will be saved only to their own copy of the blueprint and will not affect the sharer’s original version.
Edit — can change the original blueprint and save updates.

When you select the user or team to grant access, click Share to confirm. Their name will appear in the People with Access section. You can repeat this process to add more users or teams. Once all access is set, click Done to close the pop-up.

You can also choose to enable organization-wide access for the blueprint.

In the same pop-up, find Organizational Access at the bottom. It’s Restricted by default—select your organization name, then click Done. Once enabled, all Maven Bio users in your org will see this Blueprint in their Blueprint Library. After finalizing access, click Done to confirm.

Manage Access (within the Share pop-up)

The following actions are available in the Share pop-up for a specific blueprint.

  • View shared access: See the list of people and teams who currently have access to that particular blueprint.

  • Change roles: Modify a user’s permission (ViewEdit) at any time.

  • Revoke access: Click the delete icon next to a name to remove access. They’ll no longer see the blueprint in their library.

Tip: Add details to the blueprint description when saving so teammates can quickly identify the right template.

Use blueprint sharing to standardize analyses across teams—keep one source of truth, reduce rework, and ensure every table or report follows your best-practice template.
